7 Clothing Tricks for Short Men

In a previous article HERE, we described 4 ways to slim your silhouette through clothing if you are stocky. Today, we continue the series of tricks dedicated to short men.

Men, like women, have extremely diverse silhouettes… and even the same person can change shape very quickly. There is no perfect body, but there are ways to make it more flattering! Be aware of this and adapt your style to your body shape for a visually advantageous effect. Are you short and want to mask it with style? Here are 7 tricks to keep in mind!

1. Do Not Wear Pointed-Toe Shoes

Leave pointed-toe shoes for tall, slim men who love Italian style. Short men are recommended to wear shoes with a shorter, rounded toe in English, Viennese, or Budapest style. The same advice applies to boots or high shoes.

2. Choose Tight-Fitting Clothes

Loose clothes will make you look not just short but downright tiny. On the other hand, clothes that fit close to the body will create not only a horizontal slimming effect but also a vertical elongation. This doesn’t mean you will look 6’3”, but the overall image will be to your advantage. So buy clothes in your size, well tailored! If you are too short for ready-to-wear options, custom clothing is the perfect choice for you.

3. Wear Vertical Stripes

They can be printed on shirts, pants, suits, T-shirts, vests, or anything you like to wear. It’s an old trick, but stripes really elongate your silhouette guaranteed! Stay away from horizontal lines, which are contraindicated. Plaid is allowed, but it must be combined carefully.

4. Opt for Thin Fabrics

The fabrics you wear should be light and thin. Heavy fabrics, such as fur or thick wool, thicken your silhouette and “compress” your already compact posture… Otherwise, you will appear shorter than you actually are.

5. Avoid Large Geometric Shapes

In other words, avoid oversized logos or large prints. These will disadvantage you. Instead, small letters or symbols are welcome to harmonize with your stature.

6. Forget Low-Waist Pants

Accept that low-waist pants are not for you. Simply put, they are totally forbidden! The ideal pant cut must have a high waist. This visually elongates your legs. A high waist will automatically feature a longer fly.

7. Wear V-Neck T-Shirts

The neck is a thin part of the body that lengthens a lot. Therefore, it’s in your interest to highlight it. T-shirts that sit at the base of the neck or worse, turtlenecks, will make you appear compact. The solution is to wear V-neck T-shirts as often as possible. If you prefer polo shirts with buttons, always leave at least the top button undone.

Therefore, tight tailoring, stripe orientation, fabric thickness, geometric shapes, pant waist height, and shoe style are the most important details to consider if you are short and want to mask it with style. Remember: first impressions really matter!
